The Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Liège, Belgium offers a one-year position for an ophthalmology intern. The position is available from March 2024.
Our clinic is fully equipped with cutting-edge technology, providing you with all the necessary tools to diagnose and treat a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, from dogs and cats, horses to exotic animals.
The current clinical team is composed of ECVS, ECVIM-CA, ECVN, ECVDI, ECVAA, ECVECC, ECAR, ECVCN, ECVD, ECVIM-CA cardiology diplomates and residents/interns.
The current ophthalmology team includes an ECVO diplomate, a board-eligible resident and an ophthalmology intern. The ophthalmology case load is around 1000 cases for companion animals and 300 cases for horses per year.

The ophthalmology internship position is full-time (40-hour week); and the successful candidate will contribute to our weekdays/weekends/bank holidays on call and out of hours ophthalmology clinic rotas. The ideal applicant will have a minimum of two years of experience in general practice or completion of a rotating internship at a multi-disciplinary hospital. While a postgraduate qualification in ophthalmology would be advantageous, it is not mandatory. Proficiency in both written and spoken English at an excellent level is expected.
