I was born in the UK and did a first degree in Geography and Botany before going on to teach secondary school children both in the UK and Italy. I gained a DVM from the University of Illinois in 1995 and completed a small animal internship at the Animal Medical Centre in New York City. After working in general practice in San Francisco I completed a residency in comparative veterinary ophthalmology at the University of California, Davis and became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2001. I was a lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School and then the Royal Veterinary College before joining North Downs Specialists Referrals in Surrey in 2006. I became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2006 and an RCVS recognized specialist in Ophthalmology in 2008.
