Nina graduated from Ludwig-Maximilians-University (Munich) in 2011. From 2011-2013 she worked as an assistant at Munich Veterinary School and in the Small Animal Clinic Dr. Medl. She completed her doctoral thesis about tear production and ocular irritation after general anaesthesia in cats in 2013. In 2013 Nina moved back to Berlin to start the ECVO residency training program at the Small Animal Clinic (Freie Universität Berlin) under supervision of Corinna Eule. After finishing the RTP in 2017, she started to build up the ophthalmology service at the Kleintierspezialisten (Dres. Schmerbach & Höpfner) in Berlin. Nina was awarded the german national specialization in veterinary ophthalmology in 2017 and the Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2019.
