Carolin graduated from the University of Gießen (Germany) in 2008. Following her doctoral thesis about the regeneration of retinal ganglion cells she undertook a general rotating internship. In 2012 she moved to the UK to complete an ophthalmology internship at the Animal Health Trust followed by a residency at Willows Referral Service under the supervision of Heidi Featherstone, Christine Heinrich and Mike Rhodes. She moved back home to Germany in 2017 and is now working in a small animal referral hospital in Düsseldorf.
