ECVO Research Grants Awarded

The ECVO Grants were offered during the 2012 ECVO Congress in Trieste, Italy for the first time in the history of the College. The Grants fund research in areas of Veterinary Ophthalmology to ECVO-approved residents or ECVO Diplomates.

 

2023 ECVO Research grant Award

The recipient of the ECVO Research Grant was announced during the 2023 ECVO annual meeting in Rhodes. The Grant funds research in areas of Veterinary Ophthalmology to ECVO-approved residents or ECVO Diplomates, and this year it was awarded to Dr. Florine Pascale NARINX (ECVO resident, Veterinary teaching hospital of the University of Liège, Belgium) and his collaborators. The title of the grant proposal is: “Stem cells therapy in the treatment of immune-mediated keratitis in horses”

2022 ECVO Research grant Award

The recipient of the ECVO Research Grant was announced in June during the 2022 ECVO annual meeting in Salzburg. The Grant funds research in areas of Veterinary Ophthalmology to ECVO-approved residents or ECVO Diplomates, and this year it was awarded to Dr David KAYES and his collaborators. The title of the grant proposal is: “Can the transcriptomic landscape of progressive feline diffuse iris melanoma inform novel anti-cancer drug discovery” (Amount awarded: 10.000 Euros)

2017 ECVO Research Grant Award

The ECVO Research Grant was announced in August, independently to the conference.The ECVO Research Grant was offered again this year. The Grant funds research in areas of Veterinary Ophthalmology to ECVO-approved residents or ECVO Diplomates, and this year it was awarded to Dr James OLIVER. The title of the grant proposal is: ‘Comparison of ocular RNA profiles of dogs with healthy eyes versus those with primary closed angle glaucoma’.

Charlotte Dawson et al. for their research on: Immediate effects of diamond burr debridement in patients with spontaneous chronic corneal epithelial defects; light and electronmicroscopic evaluation.

Award for best poster (250 Euros) was to Natalia Ziolkowska et al. from the University of Warmia and Mazury, Olsztyn, Poland on: Morphological features of ocular inflammation and distribution of viral antigens in ocular tissues of cats with feline infectious peritonitis (FIP).

Barbara Nell and Marion Krecny (University of Vienna, Austria): ‘Investigation on the tear film in pugs’

 

2012 ECVO Research Grant was awarded in Trieste to:

Katrin Voelter, et al (University of Zurich, Switzerland) - Evaluation of the conjunctival flora and its susceptibility to antifungal agents in healthy horses in Switzerland
