Pedro Malho graduated from UTAD, Portugal in 2002. Immediately after graduation Pedro underwent one year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at a multidisciplinary referral centre. After four years in general practice and completion of the Certificat d'Études Supérieures en Ophtalmologie Vétérinaire at ENV Toulouse, France Pedro moved to the Animal Health Trust, UK in 2009 to undergo an internship in Comparative Ophthalmology. In 2010, Pedro started an ECVO-approved residency at the Animal Health Trust.
