Terry Grimes qualified at the Royal Veterinary College London and joined the Department of Surgery and Obstetrics there before moving to University College Dublin in 1967. He spent a period at the Comparative Ophthalmology Unit and has held visiting teaching posts in Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Lusaka, Khartoum and Iowa State. His PhD involved studies on ocular maldevelopment. Currently he is consultant to the University College Dublin Veterinary Hospital and lectures to postgraduates, continuing education courses and undergraduate veterinary and animal nursing students. Main interests are ocular maldevelopment, ocular surgery and techniques of ocular examination of large and small animals.
